Emergency Dental Treatment
For our registered patients we are available for emergencies out of hours; please find all relevant information below:
The Guernsey Smile Centre is part of a co-operative of dental practices on the island, and we arrange emergency out of hours dental care for our combined registered patients.
A dental emergency is defined as:
- Dental trauma resulting in substantial damage to the teeth or mouth
- Pain that is not controlled by painkillers such as Paracetamol or Ibuprofen
- Swelling due to dental infection that is getting worse
- Uncontrolled bleeding following a recent dental extraction
If you have a dental emergency out of hours that meets the above criteria, please telephone us on 01481 728701 where our answerphone message will give directions to the on-call practice. Please be advised that the on-call emergency dentist may not be your regular dental service provider but will give you appropriate advice or, if necessary, an out of hours emergency dental appointment.
Out of hours emergency appointments will incur a call out fee for which you will be liable, and there will be a charge for the treatment you receive. These fees do not differ between practices ; your emergency dentist will be able to provide you with an estimate of fees depending on your symptoms and dental needs.
If you are not registered with us or any other practice, please call the Emergency Department on 01481 220000 where you will be directed to the Island’s On-Call Emergency Dentist. The same criteria for a dental emergency will apply.
